Regular Session, 2010 SENATE BILL NO. 498 BY SENATOR CHABERT FISH/FISHING. Provides relative to fees collected from the sale of charter boat fishing guide licenses. (8/15/10) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 56:302.9(G), relative to charter boat fishing guide licenses; to2 provide for the fees collected from the sale of charter boat fishing guide licenses; to3 provide for expenditure of funds; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 56:302.9(G) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6 ยง302.9. Charter boat fishing guide license; nonresident fee7 * * *8 G. The fees derived pursuant to this Section shall be placed in the9 conservation fund. Fifty percent of the fees shall be used solely for the enforcement10 of the laws and regulations governing finfish. Ten percent of the fees shall be used11 solely for the Louisiana Recreational Fishing Development Board, R.S. 56:580.1 et12 seq. Forty percent of the fees shall be used for administration. Ten percent of the13 fees collected annually from the sale of charter boat fishing guide licenses shall14 be used by the department for the promotion of the industry and protection of15 the fishery. DIGEST Present law provides that 50% of fees collected from charter boat fishing guide licenses will be used for the enforcement of laws governing finfish; 10% of fees will be used for the La. Recreational Fishing Development Board; and 40% of the fees will be used for administration. Proposed law deletes present law and provides that 10% of fees collected will be used for promotion of the charter boat industry and fishery protection. Proposed law allows such fees to be expended through the Louisiana Charter Boat Association. Effective August 15, 2010. (Amends R.S. 56:302.9(G))
