PUBLIC UTILITIES. Increases the limit under which the New Orleans Sewerage and Water
Board may perform construction work for its public systems. (gov sig)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 33:4085(A), relative to the Sewerage and Water Board of New2
Orleans; to increase the limit under which the board may perform construction work3
for its public systems; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for related4
matters.5
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 33:4085(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8
ยง4085.  Construction work; letting contracts9
A. The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans may do construction10
work on its public systems of water, sewerage, and drainage, with its own forces in11
those cases where the amount of work involved in the particular project does not12
exceed a total value of one hundred fifty thousand dollars.13

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not15
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature16
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If17 SB NO. 512

vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become1
effective on the day following such approval.2

Present law authorizes the New Orleans S&WB to perform construction work on its public
systems of water, sewerage, and drainage, in cases where the amount of work involved does
not exceed $100,000.
Proposed law retains present law and increases that limit to $150,000.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
