PUBLIC RECORDS.  Provides relative to public records law.  (gov sig)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 44:4.1(B)(10) and (25), relative to public records; to provide2
relative to exceptions to public records law for certain records; and to provide for3
related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 44:4.1(B)(10) and (25) are hereby amended and reenacted to read as6
follows: 7

B. The legislature further recognizes that there exist exceptions, exemptions,10
and limitations to the laws pertaining to public records throughout the revised11
statutes and codes of this state. Therefore, the following exceptions, exemptions, and12
limitations are hereby continued in effect by incorporation into this Chapter by13
citation:14

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not4
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature5
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If6
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become7
effective on the day following such approval.8

Present law provides exceptions to public records law for certain records.
Proposed law retains present law and further provides exceptions for records of insurance
fraud investigations by the section of insurance fraud within the Dept. of Insurance and for
confidential reports filed by agency heads with the Board of Ethics concerning any matter
that the agency head believes may constitute a violation of the ethics code, which reports are
provided for in present law.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
