GAUTREAUX AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 15:574.2(A)(1), relative to the Board of Parole; to provide for2 minimum qualifications of members; to provide for appointment of members; and3 to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 15:574.2(A)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6 ยง574.2. Board of Parole; membership; qualifications; vacancies; compensation;7 domicile; venue; meetings; quorum; panels; powers and duties;8 transfer of property to board; representation of applicants before the9 board; prohibitions10 A.(1) A board of parole, hereinafter referred to as "the board," is hereby11 created in the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. It shall consist of seven12 members appointed by the governor, one of whom shall be the chairman of the13 board, and all of whom shall serve at the pleasure of the governor. All members14 shall possess not less than five years actual experience in the field of penology,15 corrections, law enforcement, sociology, law, education, social work, medicine,16 or a combination thereof, or were serving as a member of the board of parole17 on August 15, 2010. One of the seven members shall be appointed from a list of at18 least three names submitted by Victims and Citizens Against Crime, Inc.
