Provides relative to the employment of persons licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry by non-profit entities eligible for certain federal grants. (gov sig) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 37:797, relative to the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry; to provide for the2 employment of dentists by certain non-profit entities eligible for certain federal3 grants; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 37:797 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6 §797. Employment or contracting with certain non-profit entities7 No provision in this Chapter shall be construed to prohibit any person8 licensed under the provisions of this Chapter from being an employee or9 independent contractor of a non-profit entity eligible to receive grants under10 Section 330 of the Public Health Services Act (42 U.S.C. §245b) or its successor.11 Section 2. The provisions of this Act are procedural and not substantive and are12 enacted to clarify the provisions of Chapter 9 of Title 37 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes13 of 1950. This Act is declared to be interpretive, remedial, curative, and procedural and,14 therefore, should be applied retroactively as well as prospectively.15 Section 3. DIGEST Present law provides for the licensure and regulation of the practice of dentistry. Proposed law provides that no provision in present law shall be construed to prohibit any person licensed under the provisions of present law from being an employee or independent contractor of a non-profit entity eligible to receive grants under Section 330 of the Public Health Services Act (42 U.S.C. §245b) or its successor.
