S. 56:109(C) and to enact R.S. 56:1691, relative to possession of2 firearms; to allow the possession of firearms on certain state lands; to provide terms3 and conditions; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 56:109(C) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 56:1691 is6 hereby enacted to read as follows:7 §109. Wildlife management areas; wildlife refuges; public hunting grounds and8 recreation areas; notice; signs; disabled hunters9 * * *10 C. DIGEST Hebert (SB 534) Present law prohibits the possession of a firearm while on wildlife management areas or wildlife refuges unless the person has a permit from the Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries. Proposed law allows a person who lawfully possesses a firearm to possess or transport such firearm within the boundaries of a state park, state historic site, state preservation area, wildlife management area, or wildlife refuge. Effective August 15, 2010.
