SPECIAL DISTRICTS. Provides relative to the St. Landry Parish Economic and Industrial
Development District. (8/15/10)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 33:130.302(K), relative to the St. Landry Parish Economic and Industrial2
Development District; to prohibit elected officials from serving on the district's board3
of commissioners; and to provide for related matters.4
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 33:130.302(K) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง130.302. Board of commissioners; members; officers; employees8

K.  Elected officials are prohibited from serving on the board of10
commissioners.11

Present law [R.S. 33:130.301] creates the St. Landry Parish Economic and Industrial
Development District for the primary purpose of stimulating industrial and commercial
development in St. Landry Parish. SB NO. 59

Present law [R.S. 33:130.302] creates a 17 member board of commissioners to provide for
the district's development and effectuation of services. Board members are appointed by the
St. Landry Parish Council and the St. Landry Parish Municipal Association.
Present law provides that all commissioners be qualified voters and taxpayers within the
limits of the district during their term of office and reside in St. Landry Parish or within an
adjoining parish. 
Present law provides that current members of the St. Landry Parish Municipal Association
and of the St. Landry Parish Council may not serve as commissioners.
Proposed law retains present law.
Proposed law prohibits elected officials from serving as commissioners.
Effective August 15, 2010.
