SENATE BILL NO. 649
BY SENATOR HEBERT 
COURTS.  Provides that when judicial district courts are divided, fund balances are
distributed according to how much each parish contributes.  (8/15/10)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 13:478, relative to district courts; to provide for fund allocation for divided2
judicial districts; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1.  R.S. 13:478 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 5
ยง478.  Fund allocation for divided judicial districts6
Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, when a7
judicial district is divided, the monies in any fund of the prior district shall be8
apportioned between the remaining district and the new district in proportion9
to the monies contributed from each parish into the fund in the calendar year10
prior to division.11

DIGEST
Proposed law provides that notwithstanding any present law provision of law to the contrary,
when a judicial district is divided, the monies in any fund of the prior district shall be
