Regular Session, 2010 SENATE BILL NO. 748 BY SENATOR THOMPSON FISH/FISHING. Regulates the use of yo-yos and trigger devices on Lake Saint Joseph. (8/15/10) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 56:410.11, relative to the use of certain fishing gear; to regulate the use of2 certain fishing gear on Lake Saint Joseph; to provide for the use of yo-yos and3 trigger devices; to provide conditions, requirements, and penalties; and to provide4 for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 56:410.11 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง410.11. Lake Saint Joseph; yo-yos, trigger devices; use, regulation; penalty8 A. Fishing with the use of yo-yos or trigger devices shall be permitted9 on Lake Saint Joseph from December first through March fifteenth of each year10 under the following conditions: 11 (1) Not more than twenty-four yo-yos or trigger devices shall be allowed12 per boat.13 (2) Each yo-yo or trigger device shall be tagged with the name of the14 owner and the owner's telephone number.15 (3) Yo-yos or trigger devices shall be attached only to a tree or pier. A violation of any of the provisions of this Section shall be a class one2 violation. DIGEST Thompson (SB 748) Proposed law allows the use of yo-yos or trigger devices on Lake Saint Joseph from December 1st through March 15th of each year under the following conditions: (1)Not more than 24 yo-yos or trigger devices will be allowed per boat. (2)Each yo-yo or trigger device must be tagged with the name of the owner and the owner's telephone number. (3)Yo-yos or trigger devices may be attached only to a tree or pier. No materials can be nailed to a tree, and no line can be attached from tree to tree for the purpose of attaching a yo-yo or trigger device. Proposed law provides that a violation of any of the provisions of proposed law will be a class 1 violation. Further provides that any yo-yo or trigger device found in violation of proposed law will be immediately seized and forfeited to the DW&F. Effective August 15, 2010. (Adds R.S. 56:410.11)
