Regular Session, 2010 SENATE BILL NO. 8 BY SENATOR ADLEY CLERKS OF COURT. Authorizes the clerk of the district court in Red River Parish to receive an automobile expense allowance. (8/15/10) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 13:783(D)(7), relative to expenses of the clerk's office; to2 authorize the clerk of the district court in Red River Parish to receive an automobile3 expense allowance; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 13:783(D)(7)is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6 ยง783. Expenses of clerk's office7 * * *8 D. * * *9 (7) In Acadia Parish, and Iberia Parish, and Red River Parish the clerks of10 the district courts of those parishes may receive an automobile expense allowance11 equal to fifteen percent of their annual salary provided the clerk of court maintains12 three hundred thousand dollars of automobile insurance per accident for bodily13 injury and one hundred thousand dollars of automobile insurance per accident for14 property damage. DIGEST Present law authorizes the clerks of the district courts in Acadia Parish and in Iberia Parish to receive an automobile expense allowance. Provides that such expense allowance equals 15% of their annual salary provided the clerk maintains $300,000 of automobile insurance per accident for bodily injury and $100,000 of automobile insurance per accident for property damage. Requires the allowance come from surplus funds and at no additional expense to the state or local government. Proposed law retains present law and extends the automobile expense allowance to the clerk of the district court in Red River Parish. Effective August 15, 2010. (Amends R.S. 13:783(D)(7))
