SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 120
BY SENATOR LAFLEUR AND REPRESENTATI VE PERRY
COMMENDATIONS. Commends the efforts of the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh
O'Brian Youth Leadership seminars and recognizes June 17, 2010, as Hugh O'Brian Youth
Leadership Day in the state of Louisiana.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the efforts of the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership2
seminars and to recognize June 17, 2010, as Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Day3
in the state of Louisiana.4
WHEREAS, Hugh O'Brian, the Hollywood star who portrayed Wyatt Earp in the5
television series "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp," founded the Hugh O'Brian Youth6
Leadership Foundation in 1958; and7
WHEREAS, the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation, also known as HOBY,8
organizes and promotes annual leadership seminars for nearly nine thousand high school9
sophomores throughout the United States and abroad; and10
WHEREAS, the objectives of the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program are to11
seek out, recognize, develop, and reward leadership potential in high school students, to12
encourage and assist young people in their quest for self-identification and self-development,13
to host workshops for young people with recognized leaders in business, industry,14
government, science, and education, and to stimulate opportunities for young people to15
demonstrate their leadership abilities for the benefit of their communities and their country;16
and17
WHEREAS, to date, more than three hundred fifty-five thousand students have18 SCR NO. 120

completed the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program.1
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana2
does hereby commend the efforts of the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth3
Leadership seminars and does hereby recognize June 17, 2010, as Hugh O'Brian Youth4
Leadership Day in the state of Louisiana.5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to6
Cindy Bishop and Nial Patel, co-chairpersons of the Louisiana HOBY Leadership Seminar,7
and to Hugh O'Brian.8
