SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 4
BY SENATOR HEITMEIER
CONTRACTS. Urge and request the United States Army Corps of Engineers to exercise all
available options in the awarding of contracts for United States Army Corps of Engineers'
projects within the state of Louisiana to Louisiana companies, contractors, and
subcontractors and to report on a quarterly basis to the Department of Economic
Development and Louisiana's Legislature the percentage of Louisiana businesses receiving
United States Army Corps of Engineers' contracts for projects within Louisiana.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To urge and request the United States Army Corps of Engineers to exercise all available2
options in the awarding of contacts for United States Army Corps of Engineers'3
projects within the state of Louisiana to Louisiana companies, contractors, and4
subcontractors and to report on a quarterly basis to the Louisiana Department of5
Economic Development and Louisiana's Legislature the percentage of Louisiana6
businesses receiving United States Army Corps of Engineers' contracts for projects7
within Louisiana.8
WHEREAS, in a region of this country still recovering from the greatest natural9
disaster in our great country's history; and10
WHEREAS, Louisiana like all other states is facing a difficult economic11
environment; and12
WHEREAS, the physical conditions and environment of Louisiana require13
professionals with hands-on experience working in such conditions and environment; and14
WHEREAS, there exists numerous qualified Louisiana companies, contractors, and15
subcontractors that seek to work Corps' projects.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby17
urge and request the United States Army Corps of Engineers to exercise all available options18 SCR NO. 4

in the awarding of contacts for United States Army Corps of Engineers' projects within the1
state of Louisiana to Louisiana companies, contractors, and subcontractors and to report on2

Engineers' contracts for projects within Louisiana.5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the6
United States Army Corps of Engineers' headquarters and to all members of Louisiana's7
congressional delegation.8
