BY SENATOR LONG AND REPRESENTATIVE NOWLIN
COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Northwestern State University Lady Demons for
winning the 2010 Southland Conference women's tennis championship.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the Northwestern State University Lady Demons for winning the 20102
Southland Conference women's tennis championship.3
WHEREAS, the Northwestern State University Lady Demons won the 20104
Southland Conference women's tennis championship with a perfect 11-0 conference record5
and a 16-1 overall record; and6
WHEREAS, the Lady Demons', Martina Rubesova, provided the clinching singles7
victory as the Lady Demons clinched the championship with a comeback 6-1 victory over8
defending Southland Conference women's tennis champions, the University of Texas-9
Arlington; and10
WHEREAS, Northwestern State University women's tennis team served University11
of Texas-Arlington its first conference loss in two years; and12
WHEREAS, the Lady Demons will now compete in the Southland Conference13
Tournament, with the goal of earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament; and14
WHEREAS, the conference championship was Northwestern State University's first15
Southland Conference championship in any sport since 2006.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby17
commend the Northwestern State University Lady Demons for winning the 2010 Southland18 SCR NO. 48

Conference women's tennis championship.1
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the2
Northwestern State University Athletic Department.3
