SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 48

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend the Northwestern State University Lady Demons for winning the 2010
Southland Conference women's tennis championship.
WHEREAS, the Northwestern State University Lady Demons won the 2010
Southland Conference women's tennis championship with a perfect 11-0 conference record
and a 16-1 overall record; and
WHEREAS, Lady Demons player, Martina Rubesova, provided the clinching singles
victory as the Lady Demons clinched the championship with a comeback 6-1 victory over
defending Southland Conference women's tennis champions, the University of Texas-
Arlington; and
WHEREAS, Northwestern State University women's tennis team served University
of Texas-Arlington its first conference loss in two years; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Demons will now compete in the Southland Conference
Tournament, with the goal of earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the conference championship was Northwestern State University's first
Southland Conference championship in any sport since 2006.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Northwestern State University Lady Demons for winning the 2010 Southland
Conference women's tennis championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Northwestern State University Athletic Department.
