SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 61
BY SENATOR MOUNT 
LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS.  Designates May 19, 2010, as Louisiana Housing Council
Day at the Legislature.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To designate May 19, 2010, as Louisiana Housing Council Day at the Legislature and2
commend the organization for its accomplishments.3
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Housing Council is composed of over two hundred public4
housing entities that are subdivided into six regions across the state; and5
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Housing Council promotes and advances the availability6
of affordable housing to approximately seventeen thousand low-income residents, of which7
more than one-fourth are elderly and handicapped; and8
WHEREAS, many of its member agencies provide a number of services related to9
housing issues, which include job training, home ownership assistance, protective services,10
child care, educational assistance, and youth services; and11
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Housing Council strives to create stronger, more dynamic12
communities and works together with other local agencies to enhance the quality of life for13
citizens throughout the state; and14
WHEREAS, the LHC awards scholarships to high school students based on academic15
achievement, extracurricular activities, family need, and community involvement; and16
WHEREAS, the organization honors the achievements of its outstanding members17
who promote excellence in housing administration with exemplary leadership, high ethical18 SCR NO. 61

standards, and exceptional management skills with the presentation of the Philip W. Miller1
award; and2
WHEREAS, the council constantly strives to provide decent, safe, and sanitary3
housing and to reduce crime, poor health, and blighted property, thereby benefiting society4
as a whole; and5
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Housing Council will holds its annual Legislative6
Conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, May 18-21, 2010.7
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby8
designate May 19, 2010, as Louisiana Housing Council Day at the Legislature.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Louisiana Housing Council is hereby10
commended for its outstanding accomplishments.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to12
Cindy Martin, president of the Louisiana Housing Council.13
