COMMENDATIONS. Commends Barbara Clover on being named the 2010 National
Secondary Art Educator of the Year.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Barbara Clover on being named the 2010 National Secondary Art Educator of2
the Year by the National Art Education Association.3
WHEREAS, the National Art Education Association promotes art education through4
professional development, service, advancement of knowledge, and leadership; and5
WHEREAS, it is the leading professional organization for art educators in pre-6
kindergarten through twelfth grade, as well as college and university professors and7
researchers, administrators, and museum educators; and8
WHEREAS, the National Art Education Association represents more than twenty9
thousand members from across the world; and10
WHEREAS, Barbara Clover was selected as the 2010 National Secondary Art11
Educator of the Year for her exemplary contributions toward the promotion of art education;12
and13
WHEREAS, Ms. Clover is president of the Louisiana Art Education Association and14
views her affiliation with that organization as a vehicle to advocate for the arts and for art15
education; and16
WHEREAS, she has been an art teacher at Holy Savior Menard Central High School17
in Alexandria for sixteen years where she has challenged her students to create art; and18 SCR NO. 70

WHEREAS, Ms. Clover has been at the forefront of many local art events and has1
chaired the Youth Art Month program for the Louisiana Art Education Association; and2
WHEREAS, she has been honored nationally five times for her work with Youth Art3
Month, including four Awards of Excellence and one Claire Flanagan Memorial Grand4
Award, which is the highest award presented by the Council for Art Education, Inc.; and5
WHEREAS, Barbara Clover's dedication to art education is manifested in her ability6
to develop creative individuals, to prepare them to be successful adults, and to inspire a7
lifelong love and appreciation for art.8
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby9
commend and congratulate Barbara Clover on being named the 2010 National Secondary10
Art Educator of the Year by the National Art Education Association.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to12
Barbara Clover.13
