SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 112

SENATE. Recognizes May 16 through May 22, 2010, as Emergency Medical Services
(EMS) Week in the state of Louisiana.
A RESOLUTION1
To recognize May 16 through May 22, 2010, as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week2
in the state of Louisiana.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to honor the value and accomplishments of emergency4
medical services (EMS) providers by recognizing May 16 through May 22, 2010, as5
Emergency Medical Services Week in the state of Louisiana; and6
WHEREAS, emergency medical services are a vital public service that impact the7
lives of all Louisianians and Americans; and8
WHEREAS, the members of EMS teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those9
in need twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week; and10
WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival11
and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and12
WHEREAS, the EMS system consists of emergency physicians, emergency nurses,13
emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, and administrators,14
among numerous others; and15
WHEREAS, the members of EMS teams engage in thousands of hours of specialized16
training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and17
WHEREAS, the members of EMS teams throughout the state of Louisiana merit a18 SR NO. 112

special measure of commendation because they provide an invaluable service to their fellow1
citizens in times of need.2
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana3
does hereby recognize May 16 through May 22, 2010, as Emergency Medical Services4
(EMS) Week in the state of Louisiana, does hereby commend emergency medical services5
teams for their extraordinary contributions to their communities, and does hereby extend6
enduring appreciation for the tremendous honor and pride that emergency medical services7
providers bring to the state of Louisiana and the United States of America.8
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the9
president of the Louisiana Association of Nationally Registered Emergency Medical10
Technicians (LANREMT).11
