SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 112
BY SENATOR CHAISSON 
A RESOLUTION
To recognize May 16 through May 22, 2010, as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week
in the state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to honor the value and accomplishments of emergency
medical services (EMS) providers by recognizing May 16 through May 22, 2010, as
Emergency Medical Services Week in the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, emergency medical services are a vital public service that impact the
lives of all Louisianians and Americans; and
WHEREAS, the members of EMS teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those
in need twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week; and
WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival
and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and
WHEREAS, the EMS system consists of emergency physicians, emergency nurses,
emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, and administrators,
among numerous others; and
WHEREAS, the members of EMS teams engage in thousands of hours of specialized
training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and
WHEREAS, the members of EMS teams throughout the state of Louisiana merit a
special measure of commendation because they provide an invaluable service to their fellow
citizens in times of need.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize May 16 through May 22, 2010, as Emergency Medical Services
(EMS) Week in the state of Louisiana, does hereby commend emergency medical services SR NO. 112	ENROLLED

teams for their extraordinary contributions to their communities, and does hereby extend
enduring appreciation for the tremendous honor and pride that emergency medical services
providers bring to the state of Louisiana and the United States of America.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
president of the Louisiana Association of Nationally Registered Emergency Medical
Technicians (LANREMT).
