SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 115
BY SENATOR BROOME 
CONDOLENCES.  Expresses condolences upon the deaths of Sonja Pullen Anderson and
Jonathan Glenn Anderson.
A RESOLUTION1
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the2
deaths of Sonja Pullen Anderson and Jonathan Glenn Anderson.3
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the4
Legislature of Louisiana learned of the deaths of Sonja Pullen Anderson and Jonathan Glenn5
Anderson; and6
WHEREAS, Sonja Tijuana Pullen Anderson was born on June 28, 1965 to the union7
of Samuel Will and Bessie Roy Pullen in Alexandria, Louisiana, and was the youngest of8
thirteen children; and9
WHEREAS, she was educated in the public schools of Rapides Parish School System10
and was a 1983 graduate of Peabody Magnet Senior High School in Alexandria; and11
WHEREAS, upon graduating from high school, she began pursuing a degree in12
Business Administration at Northeast University, after which she was employed at the Hotel13
Bentley and Afco Industries for a number of years; and14
WHEREAS, she was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Alexandria,15
where she had a special interest in working with the Junior Women Ministry and served as16
the Assistant Teacher for the Young Adult Sunday School Class; and17
WHEREAS, she married the love of her life on June 28, 1997, and their marriage18 SR NO. 115

was blessed with two beautiful twin boys, Jonah Glenn and Jonathan Glenn; and1
WHEREAS, because of her love for people, she had an interest in social work and2
continued her education at Southern University and A&M College; and3
WHEREAS, upon moving to Baton Rouge she became an active member of Greater4
King David Baptist Church where, with her loving husband, she began the church's Christian5
Couples Ministry because she saw a need for married couples to fellowship and serve God6
together; and7
WHEREAS, she will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her8
beautiful smile and her vibrant personality, style, and class; and9
WHEREAS, she is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Samuel Will and10
Bessie Roy Pullen, father and mother-in-law, Houston and Lena Mae Anderson; three11
brothers, Jerald Paul Pullen, Samuel Will Pullen, Jr., Daniel Ray Pullen, Sr., and one sister,12
Pamela Suerella Pullen; and13
WHEREAS, she is survived by her loving husband Johnny Glenn Anderson, son14
Jonah Glenn, siblings Linda P. Thomas, Janice P. Dailey, D. Elaine Paul, David R. Pullen,15
Debra P. Thomas, Craig S. Pullen, Princeton C. Pullen, and Sabrina P. Irvin, twenty-four16
nieces and nephews, thirteen great nieces and nephews; a great-great niece and a great-great17
nephew; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives; and18
WHEREAS, beyond all she was a loving mother and it is with profound sympathy19
that she is joined in her passing with her loving son Jonathan; and20
WHEREAS, born on April 17, 2009, Jonathan Glenn Anderson brought much joy21
to everyone he came in contact with and would often greet friends and family with a stern22
look, then begin laughing heartily; and23
WHEREAS, although younger than his twin brother, he was the first to crawl, the24
first to walk and the first to get his baby teeth, and he always protected his big brother; and25
WHEREAS, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Houston and Lena26
Mae Anderson; maternal grandparents, Reverend Samuel Will and Bessie Roy Pullen, seven27
uncles and an aunt; and28
WHEREAS, he is survived by his loving and devoted father, Johnny Glenn29
Anderson, his brother Jonah Glenn Anderson; aunts and uncles, the Reverend Terry K.30 SR NO. 115

Anderson and Gwendolyn A. Brown, Charles Anderson, Edmund Anderson, Carl Anderson,1
Linda P. Thomas, Janice P. Dailey, Elaine P. Paul, David R. Pullen, Debra P. Thomas, Craig2
S. Pullen, Sabrina P. Irvin, godparents Mark and Letecia Miles, a host of cousins, other3
relatives and a friend who adored him.4
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana5
does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Sonja Pullen6
Anderson and Jonathan Glenn Anderson, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for7
the pride and honor that this wonderful mother and son will forever bring to her family,8
friends, and community.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the10
family of Sonja Pullen Anderson and Jonathan Glenn Anderson.11
