SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 137
BY SENATOR BROOME 
COMMENDATIONS.  Recognizes the many contributions made by citizens of the Republic
of Turkey and that it is the best interest of the state to promote relationships with the Turkish
people and to create a Louisianian - Turkish Friendship Task Force.
A RESOLUTION1
To recognize the many contributions made by citizens of the Republic of Turkey and that2
is in the best interest of the State of Louisiana to promote relationships with Turkey3
and to create a Louisianian - Turkish Friendship Task Force.4
WHEREAS, the Republic of Turkey and the United States of America are5
long-standing allies, both dearly cherishing the universal values of freedom, democracy and6
human rights; and7
WHEREAS, in its alliances with the United States, the Republic of Turkey has8
demonstrated its commitment to world peace and liberty, as well as its tolerance of others9
in the secular and religious venues; and10
WHEREAS, the Republic of Turkey is the world's fifteenth largest economy and11
Europe's sixth largest economy, is a valued trading partner with the state of Louisiana, and12
is to be commended on its contributions to the global economy; and13
WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana and the Republic of Turkey have enjoyed a14
strong, vibrant and mutually beneficial economic relationship with the prospect of further15
growth; and16
WHEREAS, it is the custom of the state of Louisiana to welcome all who come to17
our state, especially those who come in the interest of friendship and commerce; and18 SR NO. 137

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the state of Louisiana to further cultivate the1
good relationship between Louisiana and the Republic of Turkey and other Turkic Nations;2
and3
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Louisiana State Senate to recognize the4
contributions of our allies and the value of maintaining beneficial relationships with allies5
of the state of Louisiana, such as the contributions made by the Republic of Turkey and the6
value of our positive relationship with this ally.7
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana8
does hereby recognize the many contributions made by the citizens of the Republic of9
Turkey and that it is in the best interest of the state of Louisiana to promote relationships10
with Turkey.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a Louisianian - Turkish Friendship Task Force12
is hereby created consisting of members of the Senate designated by the President of the13
Senate to further long standing Louisiana - Turkey relations, build upon time-honored14
friendships, as well as promote the cultural, educational, academic, political, and economic15
relations between Louisianians and Turkish People.16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the17
Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians.18
