SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 14
BY SENATOR HEITMEIER 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends and celebrates Calvin Kass on his many years dedicated
to his family, friends, and business.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend and celebrate Calvin Kass on his many years dedicated to his family, friends,2
and business.3
WHEREAS, Mr. Kass was born on February 4, 1931, and was school-educated4
through the fourth grade; and5
WHEREAS, always a hard worker, Mr. Kass, at age twelve, took on a job as a stock6
boy for a grocery store earning two dollars per week; and7
WHEREAS, at age fifteen, Mr. Kass made the move from grocery store to food8
producer when he began employment at a macaroni factory and earned a salary of fifteen9
dollars per week; and10
WHEREAS, at the age of seventeen, Mr. Kass made a life-changing decision to go11
into business for himself and purchased a truck and shovel to haul sand; and12
WHEREAS, Mr. Kass has been married to his lovely wife, Mamie, since 1958; and13
WHEREAS, Mr. Kass was joined in his business venture by his brothers from 195114
to 1975; and15
WHEREAS, in 1975, Mr. Kass became the sole owner and operator of Kass16
Brothers, Inc.; and17
WHEREAS, today, through the leadership and hard work of Mr. Kass, Kass18 SR NO. 14

Brothers, Inc., proudly employs one hundred twenty-five employees and remains a1
successful member of the Jefferson Parish business community; and2
WHEREAS, although Mr. Kass has passed on the day-to-day operations of Kass3
Brothers, Inc., to his daughter Jean, he is still an integral part of the Kass Brothers, Inc.,4
team.5
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana6
does hereby commend and celebrate Calvin Kass on his many years dedicated to his family,7
friends, and business.8
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to9
Calvin Kass.10
