COMMENDATIONS. Commends Pastor Enoch Adeboye, The General Overseer of The
Redeemed Christian Church of God, and welcomes him to Baton Rouge and Louisiana.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Pastor Enoch Adeboye, The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian2
Church of God, and welcome him on his visit to Baton Rouge and Louisiana.3
WHEREAS, The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God,4
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, will visit the Dominion Sanctuary in East Baton Rouge Parish on5
June 23, 2010; and 6
WHEREAS, The Redeemed Christian Church of God was founded in Nigeria in7
1952 by Reverend Akindayoni and since 1981, the number of parishes have grown8
exponentially, with at least about 2,000 parishes in Nigeria; being present in other African9
nations, including C'ote D'Ivoire, Ghana, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda,10
Gambia, Cameroon, and South Africa; in Europe, the countries of England, Germany, and11
France; and in the United States at Dallas, Tallahassee, Houston, New York,12
Washington D.C., and Chicago; as well as in the Carribean states of Haiti and Jamaica; and13
WHEREAS, The Redeemed Christian Church of God is a ministry that has over14
18,000 branches worldwide, with branches in over 1l0 countries; and 15
WHEREAS, the church is known worldwide for its Holy Ghost Service, an all night16
miracle service held on the first Friday of each month, where the average headcount is about17

WHEREAS, in 1973, Enoch Adeboye, a young university lecturer, joined The1
Redeemed Christian Church of God and became an interpreter of sermons from Yoruba to2
English, was ordained a pastor of the church in 1975, and became General Overseer in 1981;3
and 4
WHEREAS, millions attend Pastor Adeboye's crusades where signs of wonder and5
healing take place; and6
WHEREAS, Pastor Adeboye ministers around the world and has been listed in the7
Newsweek magazine as one of the "50 Most Powerful People in the World"; and8
WHEREAS, the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana is honored by Pastor9
Adeboye's visit to Baton Rouge and Louisiana.10
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana11
does hereby commend Pastor Enoch Adeboye, The General Overseer of The Redeemed12
Christian Church of God, and welcome him on his visit to Baton Rouge and Louisiana.13
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to14
Pastor Enoch Adeboye.15
