SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Sean Nathan as being recognized as one of Louisiana's
Young Heroes.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend and congratulate Sean Nathan on being recognized as one of Louisiana's 20102
Young Heroes.3
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana has4
learned of the honor bestowed upon Sean Nathan, as a recipient of the 2010 Louisiana5
Young Heroes Award; and6
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Young Heroes awards are given each year to students in7
grades four through twelve who have excelled in academics and public service while8
overcoming adversity in their own lives, and who serve as an inspiration to others through9
their actions and strength of character; and10
WHEREAS, these awards are presented by Louisiana Public Broadcasting and the11
Rotary Club of Baton Rouge and underwritten by Books-a-Million and Chase; and12
WHEREAS, Sean Nathan is an outstanding straight "A" fifteen year old freshman13
at Caddo Magnet High School, who was named one of America's Top Ten Youth Volunteers14
in 2009, receiving a Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and15
WHEREAS, Sean and his brother started throwing birthday parties for the homeless16
children at the Providence House in Shreveport, Louisiana when he was eleven years old,17
and raised money for the parties and presents by performing as an accomplished violinist at18 SR NO. 63

events throughout the Shreveport area; and1
WHEREAS, this remarkable young man merits a sincere measure of commendation2
for being named a 2010 Louisiana Young Hero; and3
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,4
and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon young people5
like Sean Nathan, who, through his kindness and compassion, continuously strives to make6
the world a better place.7
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana8
hereby commends Sean Nathan, a 2010 recipient of the Louisiana Young Heroes Award, and9
expresses gratitude for the extraordinary service he provides in his community and the10
contributions he makes to the state of Louisiana, and honors the pride, courage, and11
determination he has shown with his extraordinary accomplishments.12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be presented to Sean13
Nathan, a 2010 recipient of the Louisiana Young Heroes Award.14
