SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 97
BY SENATOR AMEDEE 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Alexander Charles Adams on his admission to the
American Chapter of Mensa International.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Alexander Charles Adams of Vacherie, Louisiana on his admission to the2
American Chapter of Mensa International.3
WHEREAS, at the age of thirteen, Alexander Adams was admitted into the American4
Chapter of Mensa, International; and5
WHEREAS, founded in England in 1946 by Roland Berrill and Dr. Lance Ware,6
Mensa is the largest and oldest high-IQ society in the world; and7
WHEREAS, Mensa is composed of national groups under the umbrella of Mensa8
International with the single qualification of a high IQ; and9
WHEREAS, to qualify for Mensa, applicants must possess scores at or above one10
hundred thirty on any one of the more than two hundred accepted, standardized intelligence11
tests including an admissions test; and12
WHEREAS, Alex Adams is one of approximately eight other secondary education13
students in South Louisiana who are members of Mensa; and14
WHEREAS, members of Mensa come from all walks of life, ranging in age from two15
to one hundred and six, and includes engineers, homemakers, teachers, actors, athletes,16
students, and corporate executives, who share the common trait of high intelligence; and17
WHEREAS, the Mensa constitution has three purposes: to identify and foster human18 SR NO. 97

intelligence for the benefit of humanity; to encourage research into the nature,1
characteristics, and uses of intelligence; and to provide a stimulating intellectual and social2
environment for its members; and3
WHEREAS, Mensa is involved with programs for gifted children, literacy, and4
scholarships; and5
WHEREAS, American Mensa has more than fifty-seven thousand members, and6
more than one hundred thousand members worldwide; and7
WHEREAS, Mensa allows Alex Adams contact with other students in gifted and8
talented programs from around the world and also provides him contacts with some of the9
top university professors in the nation; and10
WHEREAS, as a member of the St. James Parish Gifted and Talented Program for11
singing, Alex Adams attended numerous district, state, and regional level honor choirs; and12
WHEREAS, Patrick and Kim Adams and Stanley and Judy Folse are the proud13
parents and grandparents of Alexander Adams; and14
WHEREAS, the future success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of local15
communities, and overall vitality of society depend upon young people like Alexander16
Adams.17
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana18
does hereby commend Alexander Charles Adams, for his admittance into the American19
Chapter of Mensa, International.20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the21
parents of Alexander Adams, Patrick and Kim Adams, and his grandparents, Stanley and22
Judy Folse.23
