AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 24:35.2 and to repeal R.S. 24:35.5, relative to redistricting; to provide for the2
election districts for the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana;3
to provide for effectiveness; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 24:35.2 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง35.2. Membership of the House of Representatives7
The House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana shall be8
composed of one hundred five members. The state shall be divided into the9
representative districts provided in this Section. One representative shall be elected10
from each district.11

Section 2. R.S. 24:35.5 is hereby repealed in its entirety.3
Section 3.(A) The precincts referenced in this Act are those Voting Districts (VTDs)4
contained in the 2010 Census Redistricting TIGER/Line Shapefiles for the State of5
Louisiana.6
(B) When a precinct referenced in this Act has been subdivided by action of the7
parish governing authority on a nongeographic basis or subdivided by action of the parish8
governing authority on a geographic basis in accordance with the provisions of R.S.9
18:532.1, the enumeration in this Act of the general precinct designation shall include all10
nongeographic and all geographic subdivisions thereof, however such subdivisions may be11
designated. The territorial limits of the districts as provided in this Act shall continue in12
effect without change regardless of any changes made to the precincts by the parish13
governing authority.14
Section 4.(A) Section 1 of this Act shall become effective solely for the purposes of15
qualifying and election of representatives to the Louisiana House of Representatives at the16
regularly scheduled elections in 2011, upon signature of this Act by the governor or, if not17
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature18
by the governor, as provided in Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If19
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, Section 1 of this Act20
shall become effective for such purposes on the day following such approval. The21
provisions of Section 1 of this Act shall be effective for all other purposes at 10:00 a.m. on22
January 9, 2012. If this Act is vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the23
legislature, the provisions of this Section and Section 3 of this Act shall become effective24
on the day following such approval.25
(B) Section 2 of this Act shall become effective at 10:00 a.m. on January 9, 2012.26
(C) The provisions of this Section and Section 3 of this Act shall become effective27
upon signature of this Act by the governor or, if not signed by the governor, upon expiration28
of the time for bills to become law without signature by the governor, as provided in Article29
