CENSUS: Provides relative to provisions in Title 2 which are limited in applicability to
political subdivisions or local areas meeting specified population characteristics

AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 2:135.2 and 347, relative to provisions of Title 2 (Aeronautics)2
of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 which are limited in applicability to3
certain political subdivisions or local areas based upon population classifications; to4
specify applicability to one or more political subdivisions or local areas; and to5
provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. R.S. 2:135.2 and 347 are hereby amended and reenacted to read as8
follows:9
§135.2.  Distribution of sales tax revenue10
When an airport is located in more than one political subdivision, sales and11
use tax revenues generated at the airport shall be distributed to each of the political12
subdivisions based upon the acreage contained in each political subdivision in13
relation to the total acreage of the airport. The provisions of this Section shall only14
apply if the majority of the acreage of such airport is located within a parish with a15
population of four hundred twenty-five thousand or more the parish of Jefferson.16

§347.  At-large members1
There shall be added to the membership of the board of commissioners of any2
airport authority composed of all the territory in two parishes, which board consists3
of seven members, two additional members who shall reside within the geographical4
boundaries of the authority and who shall be appointed by the governor, subject to5
confirmation by the Senate, to hold office at the pleasure of the appointing governor.6
The provisions of this Section shall not apply if either of the two parishes is a parish7
with a population of four hundred seventy-five thousand or more Orleans Parish or8
if the affected airport or air transportation facility is municipally owned and9
operated.10

Abstract: Updates applicability of provisions of Title 2 as a result of the 2010 census.
Proposed law, contained in Title 2 (Aeronautics) of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950,
legislates with regard to classifications of parishes, municipalities, or other political
subdivisions or local areas according to population by enacting local bills to limit the
application of laws based upon specific classifications to one or more parishes,
municipalities, or other political subdivisions or local areas, by adjusting the population
ranges affected by the 2010 census, and by repealing certain provisions based upon certain
population classification ranges, as follows:
