HLS 111ES-40 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 First Extraordinary Session, 2011 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 3 BY REPRESENTATIVE ROY CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of June Peach A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of June Wheeler Peach.2 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the3 Louisiana Legislature learned of the death of June Wheeler Peach of Alexandria, Louisiana,4 on January 27, 2011; and5 WHEREAS, she was born on July 31, 1938, to Henry Paul and Myrtle Wurster6 Wheeler and was a native of Jonesville, Louisiana; and7 WHEREAS, she graduated from Bolton High School in 1957 and attended8 Northwestern State University; and9 WHEREAS, she was married to the late John Hill Peach III on June 1, 1957, and of10 that union four children were born: John Henry Peach, Tom Glen Peach, Tammy Peach11 Lee, and Cindy Peach Branham; and12 WHEREAS, she loved her family and community and was a devout member of13 Horseshoe Drive United Methodist Church; and14 WHEREAS, June Wheeler Peach was an advocate for the elderly and those who15 needed assistance with their day-to-day lives, and showed her passion for her causes by16 being a board member and involved in numerous community causes throughout central17 Louisiana, including Rehabilitative Advancement Center, Shepherd Center, Southern18 Gerontology Society, Caring People's Free Pharmacy, Cenla Coalition for the Homeless,19 Louisiana Nursing Home Association, Friendship House, Regional Special Olympics,20 Central Louisiana Coalition to Prevent Homelessness, Cabrini Foundation, YWCA,21 HLS 111ES-40 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 3 Page 2 of 2 Canterbury House, Alzheimer's Foundation, Central Louisiana Health Care Ethics Coalition,1 Handiwork Production, Inc., the Department of Health and Hospitals' Advisory Committee2 on Medicaid, the governor's Advisory Committee on Medicaid, and Food Bank of Central3 Louisiana; and4 WHEREAS, she continued her involvement with the community and her family by5 working with her son, John Henry Peach, on the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade along Post6 Oak Boulevard which began in the 1970s; and7 WHEREAS, June Peach was the recipient of numerous professional and civic awards8 and was honored by the mayor of the city of Alexandria, Jacques Roy, who declared October9 10, 2008, "June Peach Day".10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby11 express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of June Wheeler Peach, and does12 hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful lady will13 forever bring to her family, friends, church, community, and state.14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted15 to the family of June Wheeler Peach.16 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
