BY REPRESENTATIVE ROY AND SENATOR MCPHERSON
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of June Wheeler Peach.
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Louisiana Legislature learned of the death of June Wheeler Peach of Alexandria, Louisiana,
on January 27, 2011; and
WHEREAS, she was born on July 31, 1938, to Henry Paul and Myrtle Wurster
Wheeler and was a native of Jonesville, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, she graduated from Bolton High School in 1957 and attended
Northwestern State University; and
WHEREAS, she was married to the late John Hill Peach III on June 1, 1957, and of
that union four children were born:   John Henry Peach, Tom Glen Peach, Tammy Peach
Lee, and Cindy Peach Branham; and
WHEREAS, she loved her family and community and was a devout member of
Horseshoe Drive United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, June Wheeler Peach was an advocate for the elderly and those who
needed assistance with their day-to-day lives, and showed her passion for her causes by
being a board member and involved in numerous community causes throughout central
Louisiana, including Rehabilitative Advancement Center, Shepherd Center, Southern
Gerontology Society, Caring People's Free Pharmacy, Cenla Coalition for the Homeless,
Louisiana Nursing Home Association, Friendship House, Regional Special Olympics,
Central Louisiana Coalition to Prevent Homelessness, Cabrini Foundation, YWCA,
Canterbury House, Alzheimer's Foundation, Central Louisiana Health Care Ethics Coalition,
Handiwork Production, Inc., the Department of Health and Hospitals' Advisory Committee
on Medicaid, the governor's Advisory Committee on Medicaid, and Food Bank of Central
Louisiana; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 3

WHEREAS, she continued her involvement with the community and her family by
working with her son, John Henry Peach, on the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade along Post
Oak Boulevard which began in the 1970s; and
WHEREAS, June Peach was the recipient of numerous professional and civic awards
and was honored by the mayor of the city of Alexandria, Jacques Roy, who declared October
10, 2008, "June Peach Day".
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of June Wheeler Peach, and does
hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful lady will
forever bring to her family, friends, church, community, and state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of June Wheeler Peach.
