COMMENDATIONS: Commends Second Zion Baptist Church in Marrero upon its
nineteenth anniversary
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Second Zion Baptist Church in Marrero upon the celebration of its nineteenth2
anniversary.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Second Zion Baptist Church in Marrero4
upon the celebration of its nineteenth anniversary in April of 2011; and5
WHEREAS, Second Zion Baptist Church was founded in 1992 and is led with great6
distinction by Pastor James Nelson Brown and First Lady Ellanease Brown; and7
WHEREAS, born and raised in Gretna, Pastor Brown currently resides in Algiers and8
has served with devotion as pastor since the church's founding nineteen years ago; he also9
serves as pastor of River of Life in Harvey and Fischer Community Church in Algiers; and10
WHEREAS, Second Zion Baptist Church has more than eight hundred members who11
form a multicultural, full-Gospel, spirit-filled body of believers who celebrate their faith12
with passionate praise and worship; and13
WHEREAS, the church's vision is to win lost souls to Christ and to see that every14
believer is filled with the Holy Spirit as well as mentored, trained, and equipped to fulfill the15
purpose of God in their lives; and16
WHEREAS, the church's ministries include Men of Battle, Women of Vision, Cops17
and Clergy, Youth, and Hospitality; and18
WHEREAS, the church also offers classes for new believers and for those who have19

WHEREAS, Second Zion Baptist Church merits a special measure of commendation1
upon its nineteenth anniversary celebration.2
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the3
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Second Zion Baptist Church in Marrero4
upon its nineteenth anniversary celebration and does hereby extend to its members and5
leaders best wishes for continued success and happiness in their future endeavors.6
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted7
to the pastor and first lady of Second Zion Baptist Church.8
