HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 19
BY REPRESENTATIVE CORTEZ
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the city of Youngsville upon being ranked number one
on a list of best places to live in La.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the city of Youngsville upon being ranked number one on a list of the best2
places to live in Louisiana.3
WHEREAS, in March of 2011, the city of Youngsville was ranked number one on4
a list, compiled by J.C. Grant of the Associated Content from Yahoo!, of the best places to5
live in the state; and6
WHEREAS, on this list of twenty municipalities in the state with a population of at7
least two thousand people, Youngsville came out on top; and8
WHEREAS, settled in the early 1800s by French Acadian farmers, Youngsville has9
a rich history, and its population has been growing impressively for decades; and10
WHEREAS, the people of Youngsville rightly take great pride in their beloved city,11
which is widely admired for its many infrastructure improvements and actions that raise the12
standard of living for its residents; and13
WHEREAS, Youngsville has the highest per capita income in Lafayette Parish; and14
WHEREAS, people throughout Louisiana and beyond are invited and encouraged15
to visit Youngsville and experience some of the best that Louisiana has to offer; and16
WHEREAS, Youngsville is a wonderful place to live, work, and play, and the city17
merits sincere congratulations and heartfelt commendation upon the memorable and historic18
occasion of receiving this special designation.19
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the20
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the city of Youngsville upon being ranked21 HLS 111ES-309	ORIGINAL

number one on a list of the best places to live in Louisiana and does hereby extend enduring1
appreciation to the people of Youngsville for the tremendous honor that they bring to2
Lafayette Parish and to the state of Louisiana.3
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted4
to the mayor, the chief of police, and each member of the city council of Youngsville.5
