CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of Triston Kane Knoll of
Marksville
A RESOLUTION1
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Triston Kane Knoll of2
Marksville.3
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the4
Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the death of Triston Kane Knoll on5
Monday, April 11, 2011, at the age of thirty-nine; and6
WHEREAS, Mr. Knoll was born on June 4, 1971, as the oldest of the five sons of7
longtime former Avoyelles Parish District Attorney Eddie Knoll and Louisiana Supreme8
Court Justice Jeanette Theriot Knoll; and 9
WHEREAS, Mr. Knoll was the beloved father of Andrée Noelle Knoll and the10
brother of Eddie, Jr., Sonny, Blake, and Jonathan Knoll; and 11
WHEREAS, a 1989 graduate of Marksville High School, Mr. Knoll graduated in12
1993 from Loyola University with an undergraduate degree in political science; he received13
his law degree from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans in 1996 and also14
studied foreign legal systems in Russia, Hungary, and Austria; he practiced law in15
Marksville with his father's law firm for approximately ten years; and16
WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. Knoll served on the board of17
directors of the Avoyelles Arts Council, and he was responsible for beginning Marksville's18
tradition of holding Halloween at the Courthouse Square for children and their families; and19
WHEREAS, Mr. Knoll was a member of the American Bar Association, the20
Louisiana Bar Association, the Avoyelles Parish Bar Association, which he served as21 HLS 111ES-427	ORIGINAL

secretary/treasurer from 2004-2005, the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, and the1
Association of Trial Lawyers of America; he was admitted to practice in all Louisiana state2
courts as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana; he3
was also listed in the 2003-2004 edition of America's Registry of Outstanding Professionals;4
and5
WHEREAS, in 2007, Mr. Knoll was inducted into the Louisiana Justice Hall of6
Fame, and in 2008, he was a candidate for judge for the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of7
Appeal; and8
WHEREAS, with the death of Mr. Knoll, Louisiana has lost one of her finest9
citizens; and 10
WHEREAS, Mr. Knoll, who was admired by all whose lives he touched, leaves11
behind a rich and unique legacy and is greatly missed; and12
WHEREAS, although the death of Mr. Knoll has left a tremendous void in his13
community, his memory shall live on forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and14
loved him.15
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the16
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the17
death of Triston Kane Knoll of Marksville, does hereby recognize and record for posterity18
his outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions, and does hereby extend19
enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful man will forever bring to20
his family, friends, community, and state.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted22
to the family of Triston Kane Knoll.23
