SENATE BILL NO. 5
BY SENATOR MURRAY 
CENSUS. Provides relative to provisions in Title 6 which are limited in applicability to
political subdivisions or local areas meeting specified population characteristics.
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 6:966.1(C), relative to provisions of Title 6 (Banks and Banking)2
of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, which are limited in applicability to3
certain political subdivisions or local areas based upon population classifications; to4
specify applicability to one or more political subdivisions or local areas; and to5
provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 6.966.1(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8

C. If the sheriff is the appropriate official in a the parish having a population in11
excess of four hundred sixty-five thousand persons, as determined by the most recent federal12
decennial census, of Orleans, then there shall be no fee paid to the sheriff; however, the13
"Notice of Repossession" shall still be filed with the sheriff.14

Proposed law, contained in Title 6 (Banks and Banking) of the Louisiana Revised Statutes
of 1950, legislates with regard to classifications of parishes, municipalities, or other political
subdivisions or local areas according to population by enacting local bills to limit the
application of laws based upon specific classifications to one or more parishes,
municipalities, or other political subdivisions or local areas, by adjusting the population
ranges affected by the 2010 census, and by repealing certain provisions based upon certain
population classification ranges, as follows:
