SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 7

SENATE. Urges Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee to recommend, and the
Louisiana Senate to enact, a Senate redistricting plan that includes the entirety of East
Feliciana Parish within one Senate district.
A RESOLUTION1
To urge and request the Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee to recommend, and2
the Louisiana Senate to enact, a Senate redistricting plan that includes the entirety3
of East Feliciana Parish within one Senate district.4
WHEREAS, for the last ten years and for almost one hundred of the last one hundred5
thirty years, the entirety of the parish of East Feliciana has been included within one Senate6
district, and represented by one Senator; and 7
WHEREAS, the entirety of East Feliciana Parish is included in the Capital Area8
Groundwater Conservation District (R.S. 38:3071); the Louisiana Capital Area Economic9
Development Alliance Film Commission (R.S. 33:9039.81); the Capital Area Human10
Services District (R.S. 28:901); the Mississippi River Road Commission (R.S. 25:1251); the11
Feliciana Juvenile Justice District (R.S. 15:1096); the Republic of West Florida Historic12
Region (R.S. 25:701); the Zachary Taylor Parkway District (R.S. 48:1801); and State Area13
No. 5 of the State Soil and Water Conservation Commission (R.S. 3:1204); and14
WHEREAS, the entirety of East Feliciana Parish is included in the election15
jurisdiction of several offices, including Supreme Court District 5 (R.S. 13:101(5)); the third16
district of the First Circuit Court of Appeal (R.S. 13:312(1)(b)); and the Twentieth Judicial17
District (R.S. 13:477(20)).18 SR NO. 7

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana1
does hereby urge and request that the Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee to2
recommend, and the Louisiana Senate to enact, a Senate redistricting plan that includes the3
entirety of East Feliciana Parish within one Senate district.4
