HUNTING: Authorizes the use of sound suppressors when taking nongame nuisance
quadrupeds
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 56:116.1(D)(3), relative to hunting; to authorize the use of sound suppressors2
when taking nongame nuisance quadrupeds; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1.  R.S. 56:116.1(D)(3) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 5

(3) Any person who is authorized to possess a firearm sound suppressor, as10
evidenced by payment and possession of the required federal tax stamp issued by the11
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, may use a firearm fitted with12
a sound suppressor when taking outlaw quadrupeds, nutria, or beaver under the13
provisions of this Subsection.14

Present law authorizes the taking of outlaw quadrupeds, nutria, or beaver at any time of year.
Proposed law authorizes the use of a firearm fitted with a sound suppressor for such taking
when the person taking the outlaw quadruped is authorized to possess such firearm fitted
with a sound suppressor, as evidenced by possession of the federal tax stamp required by the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
