AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 17:3141.2(5)(introductory paragraph) and to enact R.S.2
17:3141.2(5)(o), relative to the definition of a proprietary school; to provide3
exceptions; to provide an effective date; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 17:3141.2(5)(introductory paragraph) is hereby amended and6
reenacted and R.S. 17:3141.2(5)(o) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง3141.2.  Definitions8
The following words and phrases, when used in this Chapter, shall have the9
meaning herein ascribed to them unless the context clearly indicates a different10
meaning:11

(5) "Proprietary school", hereinafter referred to as "school", means any13
business enterprise operated for a profit or on a nonprofit basis which maintains a14
place of business within this state, or which sells or offers for sale any course of15
instruction in this state, either by correspondence using the mails or by any other16
means of communication, or by personal solicitation, and which offers or maintains17
a course or courses of instruction or study, or at which place of business such a18
course or courses of instruction or study is available through classroom or 	internet19
Internet instruction, or both, to a person or persons for the purpose of training or20
preparing such person for a field of endeavor in a business, trade, technical, or21
industrial occupation, except as hereinafter excluded. The definition of a proprietary22
school shall not include:23

(o)  A school or business enterprise which offers yoga teacher training.1

Section 2. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2011; if vetoed by the governor3
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,4
2011, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.5
