GERMAIN Prefiled pursuant to Article III, Section 2(A)(4)(b)(i) of the Constitution of Louisiana. AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 33:1448(H)(1) and to enact R.S. 33:1448(H)(3), relative to2 payment of group insurance premiums for persons retired from the Assumption3 Parish Sheriff's Office; to require service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office4 for a specified number of years after a specified date; and to provide for related5 matters.6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7 Section 1. R.S. 33:1448(H)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S.8 33:1448(H)(3) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 9 ยง1448. Group insurance; kinds; amounts; subrogation10 * * *11 H.(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, one12 hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense,13 and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted14 for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid by the sheriff of Assumption15 Parish from the sheriff's general fund for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire16 on or after July 1, 2001, and before July 1, 2011, from the Assumption Parish17 sheriff's office Sheriff's Office with at least twenty years of service and who are at18 least fifty-five years of age.19 * * *20 (3) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, one21 hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense,22 and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted23 ENROLLEDHB NO. 33 Page 2 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions. for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid by the sheriff of Assumption1 Parish from the sheriff's general fund for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire2 on or after July 1, 2011, from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office with at least3 twenty years of service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office and who are at4 least fifty-five years of age.5 * * *6 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not7 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature8 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
