TRAFFIC: Urges and requests DOTD to install a traffic signal at the intersection of Orange
Street and La. Hwy. 529 (Millhaven Road) in Ouachita Parish
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to install a traffic2
light at the intersection of Orange Street and Louisiana Highway 529 (Millhaven3
Road) in Ouachita Parish.4
WHEREAS, local officials in Ouachita Parish are asking that the Department of5
Transportation and Development install a traffic light at the intersection of Orange Street and6
Louisiana Highway 529 (Millhaven Road); and7
WHEREAS, a major overpass was constructed several years ago that has caused an8
increase of traffic on Millhaven Road; and9
WHEREAS, the recent opening of Delta Community College has contributed10
significantly to the traffic congestion in this area; and11
WHEREAS, in an approximate two-mile stretch of highway, there are no traffic12
lights to regulate the flow of traffic on Millhaven Road between 18th Street and Powell; and13
WHEREAS, installing a traffic light at this intersection is needed to protect the safety14
and welfare of pedestrians and drivers alike and to diminish the current public safety hazard15
in this growing area of the parish.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby17
urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to install a traffic light18
at the intersection of Orange Street and Louisiana Highway 529 (Millhaven Road) in19

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the1
secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.2
