SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes April of 2011 as Sarcoidosis Awareness
Month in La. and commends the Sarcoidosis Awareness Support Group of Greater
Baton Rouge
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To recognize April of 2011 as Sarcoidosis Awareness Month in Louisiana and to commend2
the Sarcoidosis Awareness Support Group of Greater Baton Rouge.3
WHEREAS, citizens throughout Louisiana, including the Sarcoidosis Awareness4
Support Group of Greater Baton Rouge, are observing Sarcoidosis Awareness Month in5
April of 2011 with the theme "Stepping Out Against Sarcoidosis"; and6
WHEREAS, sarcoidosis is a potentially fatal inflammatory disease which can appear7
in almost any organ in the body, which strikes people of all races and all ages, and which8
affects people in chronic and debilitating ways; and9
WHEREAS, while some progress has been made in understanding the symptoms and10
better diagnosing the disease, the cause remains undetermined, and very little is known about11
the true burden of this illness; and12
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to set aside a special month to recognize the need for13
more research funding relative to sarcoidosis and the importance of supporting individuals14
with the disease and to commend those fighting to raise sarcoidosis awareness.15
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby16
recognize April of 2011 as Sarcoidosis Awareness Month in Louisiana and does hereby17
commend the efforts of the Sarcoidosis Awareness Support Group of Greater Baton Rouge.18 HLS 11RS-861 ORIGINAL

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted1
to the group leader of the Sarcoidosis Awareness Support Group of Greater Baton Rouge.2
