HLS 11RS-3599 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 151 BY REPRESENTATIVE ELLINGTON COMMENDATIONS: Commends Dr. Ken Ward for his commitment and contributions to the La. House of Representatives A RESOLUTION1 To commend Dr. Ken Ward, legislative ethicist and coordinator of chaplain services, for his2 dedicated services to the Louisiana House of Representatives.3 WHEREAS, in 1976 Dr. Ken Ward left his teaching role at the Louisiana State4 University in Baton Rouge to join the Louisiana Moral and Civic Foundation, which was5 organized in 1942 for the purpose of helping people of all faiths and those without faith to6 work together to make a better Louisiana, as director of the legal and legislative division,7 and he became executive director, soon thereafter; and8 WHEREAS, Dr. Ken Ward is uniquely qualified to work with and for the legislature9 by his formal study, earning his doctor of philosophy degree from Louisiana State University10 and publishing his dissertation on the topic of legislative ethics, his hands-on experience of11 monitoring and interacting with the legislative process for over 35 years, and his genuine12 dedication to and love for the members of the Louisiana Legislature; and 13 WHEREAS, members of the House of Representatives often attribute Dr. Ken14 Ward's assistance in understanding some of the complex issues that face them, and his15 presence in the house chamber as a positive influence on the decorum and spirit of civility16 and corporation; and17 WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the members of this House of Representatives to18 extend sincere appreciation to Dr. Ken Ward for his dedicated services as ethicist and19 coordinator of chaplain services, and for the unwavering integrity, wisdom, and respect that20 he gladly shares with us. 21 HLS 11RS-3599 ORIGINAL HR NO. 151 Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the1 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend to Dr. Ken Ward our heartfelt appreciation and2 best wishes for his continued success as legislative ethicist and coordinator of chaplain3 services for the Louisiana House of Representatives and in all of his endeavors.4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted5 to Dr. Ken Ward.6 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
