ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 25 BY REPRESENTATIVE WILLIAMS A RESOLUTION To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Ella Dee Hamilton of Shreveport. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the death of Ella Dee Hamilton; and WHEREAS, for more than fifty-two years, Mrs. Hamilton was a beloved member of Shreveport's Martin Luther King, Jr., community; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Hamilton was the mother of eleven children and the "surrogate mother" of many young people whose lives she touched; and WHEREAS, ever devoted to the youth of her community, Mrs. Hamilton worked with the Head Start program and served with great effectiveness in many volunteer capacities, including as the president of the Parent Teacher Association and as a den mother; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Hamilton was a gifted seamstress and helped many others to develop and share their gifts and talents, inspiring them to become ministers, educators, activists, law enforcement officials, attorneys, and health care providers; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Hamilton deserves posthumous gratitude and respect for the joy and pride she brought to her neighbors on Gordonia Drive and to her entire community; and WHEREAS, with the death of Ella Dee Hamilton, Louisiana has lost one of her finest citizens, an unsung hero whose kind and generous spirit has left an indelible mark on the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved her. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Ella Dee Hamilton of Shreveport and does hereby recognize that her vibrant and enduring legacy of kindness, grace, and service will forever remain a source of tremendous honor for her family, friends, community, and state.
