AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 34:851.36(B), relative to motorboats and vessels; to provide for2 boating safety education; to exempt certain individuals from the boating safety3 education requirement; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for related4 matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 34:851.36(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:7 ยง851.36. Boating safety education required8 * * *9 B. (1) A motorboat may be operated if any person on board or participating10 in any boating activity from the motorboat is over the age of eighteen and, if required11 to have completed a boating safety course under the provisions of Subsection A of12 this Section, has completed the required boating safety course.13 (2) A person who is licensed by the United States Coast Guard as a14 captain to operate a vessel shall be exempt from the provisions of Subsection A15 of this Section.16 * * *17 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not18 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature19 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
