Increases authorized court costs for municipal ordinance violations in the mayor's court in the town of New Llano. (8/15/11) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 33:448(D), relative to mayor's courts; to increase authorized court costs for2 municipal ordinance violations in the mayor's court of the town of New Llano; and3 to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 33:448(D) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6 ยง448. Mayor's court; town of New Llano; establishment; jurisdiction; additional7 court costs8 * * *9 D. DIGEST Smith (SB 31) Present law establishes and provides for a mayor's court for the town of New Llano. Present law, applicable to mayor's courts generally, authorizes the mayor, as presiding officer of the court, to impose court costs not to exceed $30 dollars for each offense, as defined by ordinance, on any defendant convicted of a violation of a municipal ordinance. Proposed law retains present law and further provides that in addition to the court costs authorized by present law, the mayor, as the presiding officer of the court of the town of New Llano, may impose additional court costs not to exceed $20 dollars for each offense, as defined by ordinance, on any defendant convicted of a violation of a municipal ordinance.
