ASSESSORS.  Provides for the payment of certain insurance premium costs for certain
retired assessors and assessors' employees in Catahoula Parish. (8/15/11)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 47:1923(D)(1), relative to tax assessors; to provide relative to2
the payment of certain insurance premiums for certain retired assessors and3
assessors' employees in Catahoula Parish; and to provide for related matters.4
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 47:1923(D)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:7
ยง1923. Authority for assessors separately or jointly to contract for insurance;8
payment of premiums9

D.(1) In the parishes of Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles,11
Beauregard, Bienville, Calcasieu, Cameron, Catahoula, Claiborne, Concordia,12
DeSoto, East Baton Rouge, Franklin, Iberia, Iberville, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette,13
Lafourche, LaSalle, Madison, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Orleans, Ouachita,14
Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Red River, Sabine, St. Bernard, St. Charles,15
St. Helena, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, Tangipahoa, Tensas,16
Terrebonne, Union, Vermilion, Vernon, Washington, Webster, West Baton Rouge,17 SB NO. 34

West Carroll, and West Feliciana, the assessor shall pay the premium cost of group1
life, dental, group health, hospital, surgical, or other medical insurance for any2
assessor or assessor's employee who retires with at least twenty years of service who3
is at least fifty-five years of age or who retires with at least thirty years of service at4
any age. A uniform policy with respect to the payment of such premium shall be5
formulated and applied by the assessor of each parish listed in this Subsection.6

DIGEST
Present law provides that in certain parishes the assessor will pay the premium cost of group
life, dental, group health, hospital, surgical, or other medical insurance for any assessor or
assessor's employee who retires with at least 25 years of service who is at least 55 years of
age or who retires with at least 30 years of service at any age.
Proposed law retains present law but adds Catahoula Parish to the list of parish assessors
required to pay such insurance premiums.
Effective August 15, 2011.
