AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 42:808(E), relative to eligibility in group programs; to provide2
coverage for a developmentally disabled dependent of a classified or unclassified3
state civil service employee by life, health or other programs sponsored by the Office4
of Group Benefits under certain circumstances; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 42:808 (E) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7

E. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, any10
developmentally disabled person who became disabled prior to attaining the age of11
twenty-one, with one parent whose coverage of such person was terminated as a12
result of lost employme nt of the parent and one parent who is an employee, as13
defined in R.S. 42:808(A)(3), Paragraphs (A)(1) and (A)(3) of this Section,14
participating in life, health, or other programs sponsored by the Office of Group15
Benefits, shall be covered as a dependent of such parent participating in life, health,16
or other programs sponsored by the Office of Group Benefits, regardless of the age17
of the developmentally disabled person.18
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not19
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature20
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If21

vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become1
effective on the day following such approval.2
