LOCAL AGENCIES. Increases the membership of Hospital Service District Number Two
of Beauregard Parish. (8/15/11)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 46:1053(EE), relative to Hospital Service District Number Two of Beauregard2
Parish; to increase the membership of the board of commissioners; to provide3
relative to the terms of office of the members of the board of commissioners; and to4
provide for related matters.5
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. R.S. 46:1053(EE) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8
ยง1053. Commission; qualification of members; appointment; vacancies;9
compensation; removal of commissioners; certain powers10

EE. In the parish of Beauregard, the Hospital Service District Number12
Two shall be governed by a board of commissioners composed of ten members.13
The additional members provided for by this Subsection shall be appointed by14
the governing authority and shall serve staggered initial terms with two15
commissioners appointed for two years, two for three years, and one for four16

terms as provided in Subsection C of this Section.1

DIGEST
Present law generally provides that hospital service districts are governed by a board of five
commissioners appointed by the police jury.
Proposed law retains the appointment authority for the board of commissioners found in
present law but provides that the Beauregard Parish Hospital Service District No. 2 shall be
governed by a board of ten commissioners.
Present law provides that commissioners serve staggered six-year terms.
Proposed law retains present law but provides that two of the first additional commissioners
of Beauregard Parish Hospital Service District No. 2 shall serve an initial term for two years,
two for three years and one for four years, and thereafter shall serve six-year terms.
Effective August 15, 2011.
