Removes certain requirements which must be satisfied in order to maintain state certification as a certified nurse aide. (gov sig) AN ACT1 To repeal R.S. 40:2120.56, relative to certified nurse aides; to remove certain work2 requirements which must be satisfied in order to maintain state certification as a3 certified nurse aide; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 40:2120.56 is hereby repealed.6 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not7 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature8 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If9 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become10 effective on the day following such approval.11 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Greg Waddell. DIGEST Present law provides that in order to maintain certification as a certified nurse aide, the certified nurse aide shall perform a minimum of 90 days or 720 hours of certified nurse aide duties in one nursing facility within a 120 day period each year. Present law further requires DHH to confirm the completion of the required hours at least once every 2 years.
