A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To designate May 16, 2011, as "YMCA Day in Louisiana."2
WHEREAS, the mission of the YMCA is to build strong kids, strong families and3
strong communities through programs that instill values of caring, honesty, respect and4
responsibility; and5
WHEREAS, the YMCAs throughout Louisiana are dedicated to providing programs6
and services to more than 100,000 children, youth, and adults; and7
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs support the development of integrated,8
community-based strategies for serving children and families; and9
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs stand ready to support state government efforts to10
provide developmental programs for children and youth, strengthen families, and mobilize11
and coordinate broad efforts to support children and families through partnerships that meet12
community needs; and13
WHEREAS, on May 16, 2011, representatives of Louisiana's YMCAs will meet in14
the Louisiana State Capitol with their Representatives and Senators to discuss and exchange15
ideas on issues facing youth and families.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana hereby17
designates May 16, 2011, as "YMCA Day in Louisiana."18 SCR NO. 23
