Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 25 BY SENATOR LONG AND REPRESENTATIVE NOWLIN A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend Northwestern State University College of Nursing and Allied Health upon being selected as one of the Top 100 nursing graduate programs in the nation in the latest rankings by U.S. News Media Group. WHEREAS, as part of the U.S. News & World Report 2012 Best Graduate Schools rankings, master's degree programs in nursing were assessed based on a peer survey of deans, other administrators and faculty at accredited degree programs or schools in each discipline; and WHEREAS, a total of four hundred forty-nine master's degree programs at public and private colleges and universities were ranked; and WHEREAS, Northwestern State University's Master of Science in Nursing program was the only ranked program in Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Northwestern's Master of Science in Nursing program has had a long tradition of outstanding students and faculty which is reflected in these rankings; and WHEREAS, the program has always been supported by Northwestern's administration as well as health care providers and other private partners, and through these collaborative relationships the program has continually grown while maintaining the highest level of excellence; and WHEREAS, the Master of Science in Nursing program provides learning opportunities for registered nurses to build upon baccalaureate nursing education, as well as experiential professional knowledge, attitudes and skills; and WHEREAS, the program prepares registered nurses to function and excel in various advanced nursing roles, such as clinical nurse specialist, nurse educator, nurse administrator or nurse practitioner; and WHEREAS, this honor and distinction not only increases the value of the Northwestern nursing degrees that the current students will receive but those already earned by alumni in the profession. SCR NO. 25 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Northwestern State University College of Nursing and Allied Health upon being selected as one of the Top 100 nursing graduate programs in the nation in the latest rankings by U.S. News Media Group. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the President of Northwestern State University of Louisiana and to the Dean of the Northwestern State University College of Nursing and Allied Health.
