SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 39
BY SENATOR GAUTREAUX AND REPRESENTATI VE PEARSON 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Mrs. Suzanne D. Adams, retirement benefits administrator for the Louisiana
State Employees' Retirement System, on the occasion of her retirement.
WHEREAS, as she prepares to retire from the Louisiana State Employees'
Retirement System, known as LASERS, it is appropriate that a sincere and heartfelt measure
of commendation and appreciation be expressed to Mrs. Suzanne D. Adams for her
remarkable devotion and service to the members of LASERS and her many contributions
made on behalf of the retirement system, its retirees, beneficiaries, and members; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Adams is well known and well respected throughout Louisiana
government; since 1981, she has cheerfully served retirees, beneficiaries, and system
members, initially with the Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana and later with
LASERS, as a classified employee; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Adams has consistently demonstrated a dedicated spirit and kind
heart in service to the members, beneficiaries, and retirees of LASERS; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Adams' primary goal has always been the improvement of services
provided to state employees and their beneficiaries throughout their careers and into
retirement; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Adams has consistently demonstrated qualities of leadership and
initiative; indeed, in the tumultuous days following hurricanes Katrina and Rita, she worked
tirelessly to lead the efforts of LASERS' dedicated staff, ensuring that LASERS' retirees and
beneficiaries timely received their benefit checks; and SCR NO. 39	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, during those physically-draining and emotionally-trying circumstances,
she played a pivotal role in providing information and assistance to hundreds of state
agencies, enabling better-informed decisions to be made, ultimately affecting thousands of
classified and unclassified public servants with positive results; and
WHEREAS, without her knowledge, research, dedication, and tenacity, thousands
of state employees may have lost the opportunity to maintain membership in LASERS; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Adams' commitment to exceptional customer service is evident
in her creation of various educational programs and outreach seminars; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Adams actively participates in various public service
organizations, such as Women in Management and the Retired State Employees'
Association; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Adams has generously shared her knowledge of and expertise in
public retirement with the legislature, providing immeasurable counsel, encouragement, and
support to legislative staff in a difficult subject matter; and
WHEREAS, her tenure as retirement benefits administrator for LASERS has been
characterized by effective leadership, genuine professionalism, and remarkable compassion
and grace; and
WHEREAS, throughout her career in public service Mrs. Adams has conducted
herself with a level of kindness, sincerity, and competence rarely encountered in today's
business world; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Adams merits the highest commendation and sincerest
congratulations for her exemplary dedication to public service and public servants in the
state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate Mrs. Suzanne D. Adams for her remarkable public service career
spanning four decades and does hereby express its appreciation for her many years of
compassionate service to the members, retirees, and beneficiaries of Louisiana's state
retirement systems.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend
to her its best wishes for success and happiness in all her future endeavors. SCR NO. 39	ENROLLED
