Welcomes to Louisiana members of the Belgium Fire Department who are visiting the New Orleans Fire Department to share firefighting knowledge and experiences. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To welcome fire fighters from Belgium and members of the Belgium Fire Observers2 Organization to Louisiana; to acknowledge the bravery, strength, selflessness,3 courage, and true heroism of all fire fighters; to thank these visiting fire fighters for4 choosing the New Orleans Fire Department and Louisiana to visit and not only to5 learn but to share their knowledge and experiences with us; and to thank all fire6 fighters for the bravery and courage they exhibit on a daily basis, never faltering7 from the oath and duties they have undertaken.8 WHEREAS, Engineer Carl Verstrepen, Battalion Chief Mark Opstal, Fire Fighter9 Serge De Bussere, Captain Eddy Depauw, Fire Fighter Stefan Bonne, Lieutenant Jeroen10 Bollemeijer, Battalion Chief Patrick Wallaert, Fire Fighter Eric Cloot, Engineer Johan Van11 De Voorde and Lieutenant Sylvain Van Teemsche, all members of the Belgium Fire12 Department are visiting Louisiana to observe operating procedures and fire fighting13 techniques of the New Orleans Fire Department; and 14 WHEREAS, this group of Belgium fire fighters is part of the Belgium Fire Observers15 Organization in which members visit major fire departments throughout the United States16 several times each year; and17 WHEREAS, this group of Belgium fire fighters are present today in the State Capital18 SCR NO. 45 SLS 11RS-1405 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 3 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to observe the Louisiana legislative process, as part of their visit;1 and2 WHEREAS, while visiting fire departments around the country, these fire fighters3 spend time with their brother and sister fire fighters meeting, observing, learning, and4 gathering information, skills, techniques, and knowledge of operations of our fire5 departments here in the United States; and 6 WHEREAS, these brave men from Belgium will ride along with their colleagues,7 observing their ways of operation, taking a closer look at their equipment, studying their8 methods of response, and share experiences as to how things are different and/or similar to9 the way they are done in Europe; and 10 WHEREAS, these fire fighters from Belgium are not only learning from our fire11 departments but also sharing their knowledge and experience with our fire fighters,12 providing an opportunity not only to learn from us but also teach us some of their operational13 skills and knowledge; and14 WHEREAS, this visit from the Belgium fire fighters only goes to prove the15 exceptional and strong bond and comradery the brotherhood/sisterhood of fire fighters all16 over the world share between each other. 17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana hereby18 welcomes these brave fire fighters from Belgium and members of the Belgium Fire19 Observers Organization to Louisiana. 20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana acknowledges the21 bravery, strength, selflessness, courage, and true heroism of all fire fighters all over the22 world. 23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana thanks these24 visiting fire fighters for choosing the New Orleans Fire Department and Louisiana to visit25 and not only to learn but to share their knowledge and experiences with us. 26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana thanks all fire27 fighters across the country and throughout the world for the bravery and courage they exhibit28 on a daily basis, never faltering from the oath and duties they have undertaken. 29 SCR NO. 45 SLS 11RS-1405 ORIGINAL Page 3 of 3 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Jerry J.
